Over a decade ago, he had expected a red carpet welcome at New Delhi railway station, while shifting to the national capital from Varanasi to try his luck.
“I was a kid then. I was foolish to expect from my friends that they will come to receive me at the railway station. How foolish of me to carry packets of prasad from famous Sankatmochan Mandir to distribute among my friends at the New Delhi station! I was very hurt. It was a big… very big disappointment when not a single friend turned up at the station, not even my brother.” Huh…
Sanjay Sabran is a changed man today. A Chartered Accountant by profession, Sabran recently got his own plush office in the heart of the national capital, Connaught Place.
“No one took me seriously when I came to Delhi. But today, I ensure that at least I do not disappoint anyone. My office-cum-guest house is at a stone’s throw distance from New Delhi railway station, it is next to Inter-Continental, five minutes walking distance from Mandi House. I am extremely delighted to have it… to have it for my friends, for all those who know me. Anyone can come, chat and be a guest here,” he says. “Thank God, I am capable of extending red carpet welcome for others.”
As a chartered accountant also, Sabran is playing a major role within business and industry. He is a respected name on whom others depend. “I do not compromise on ethics and values. I keep a flexible and determined approach and gather knowledge from working situations. I get opportunities to meet and work with bright people.” His trainees admit that they enjoy an excellent rapport with him. True, he is a well groomed professional and is so recognised in the business circles where he practices and advises on financial matters. He is a total financial solution provider. But Sabran is not a person who sits in his office only checking figures. He has a wide range of personal qualities as well. He is a good communicator, a good team player, comfortable with numbers, can manage people effectively, is analytical and self-motivated.
“This is all very well, but what do you discuss with people other than accountancy!!!” – I put to him the other day.
“I will discuss the same with you too,” the jolly fellow said smiling, with his hands gripped firm on the car steering. “Society is choked with problems. You cannot solve them all. Therefore, it is better to observe these problems for a while - from a distance - and try to help people overcome them. In another way, we may contribute to the efforts of the people in resolving the problems without actually getting into it. Even God cannot solve all the problems mankind is engrossed with. Mind you, if you dare to venture deep, you will only have regrets.” Intelligent thoughts… !!!
